16th Street Northwest is a prominent north-south thoroughfare in the northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. The street’s proximity to Rock Creek Park and importance as a thoroughfare has made it a natural dividing boundary for Washington neighborhoods.
The project involves the replacement of an existing 16th Street NW Bridge over Military Road, NW and Median Barrier & Street Light improvements on Military Road. The project will take an estimated 330 days to complete. DDOT will utilize Accelerated Bridge Construction method for construction of 16th Street Bridge over Military Road to minimize the construction time and to minimize traffic impacts to 16th Street and Military Road and the surrounding community.
This project is a multi-phase project that will impact the travelling public. All who utilize 16th Street Bridge and Military Road and surrounding community will be kept abreast of upcoming traffic changes through various media outlets in an effort to inform the public of possible delays and afford opportunities to divert to alternative travel modes and roadways.
